Chuckey-Doak 5, University High 0

The Chuckey-Doak Lady Black Knights clinched the number one seed in the District 1-A soccer tournament after defeating the University High Lady Bucs 5-0 on Tuesday to remain perfect in district action with a 4-0 record.  

In the 24th minute, Bailea Gilland gathered a throw in and sent a pass to the right corner of the box to Faith Rice who blasted the ball into the  corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Six minutes later, Layla Fox dribbled  up the field a slid a pass into Bailea Gilland who lofted a shot into the left side to double the Chuckey-Doak lead at 2-0.

Twenty two minutes into the second half, Addy Bradley sprinted past everyone on the field and gathered a through ball before sending a low cross to Faith Rice who poked the ball over the goal line for her second goal of the night and the 3-0 lead.

In the 68th minute, Kylie Malone won a University High goal kick and sent a rocket from 30 yards out skipping into the goal for the 4-0 lead.

Just before the final whistle, Aliah Campbell dropped the ball back to Hailey Williamson who blasted the ball over the Lady Bucs keeper and into the corner to end the game with Chuckey-Doak leading 5-0.

The Lady Black Knights defensive unit of Niome Merrill, Liliana Jimenez, Hope Rice, Madison Karriker, and Tavyn Southerland denied the Lady Junior Bucs offense from scoring, earning their 10th shutout of the year. Keeper Kylee Askew had 5 saves in goal.

The Lady Black Knights, 10-0-2 overall, host Pigeon Forge in a non-district matchup Thursday.

Greeneville 3, Northview 0

The Greeneville volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Northview Academy on Tuesday, 25-15, 25-7, 25-17.

Chloe Marsh led the Lady Devils with 12 kills and 10 digs. Lauren Bailey had 10 kills and five blocks. Hannah Gray had seven kills and seven digs, and Bella Devoti had six kills and three aces.

Emma Ricker had five kills and three digs, Kyla Jobe had seven digs and two aces, and Ande King had five digs. Catie Ridinger had five digs and one ace, Lanna Click had seven digs, and Eden Aiken had 35 assists, five digs and four kills. Trudi Aiken had four assists and three digs, and Destani Bailey had one kill.
