Greeneville 71, Cherokee 23
The Greeneville girls stayed perfect in District 2-3A play on Tuesday with a 71-23 win over Cherokee.
The Lady Devils used smothering defense to get the night started and held a 15-0 lead after one quarter of action. Lauren Bailey propelled the offense with seven points in the period.
By halftime the Lady Devils were in front 40-14 after Anna Shaw exploded for 10 points in the second quarter.
Shaw finished the game with 17 points. Tambryn Ellenburg led Greeneville with 19 points, including five three-pointers.
Kyla Jobe and Dalaina Martin both scored eight points off of the bench by Greeneville.
Greeneville will be back in action on Friday
Cosby 65, Chuckey-Doak 52
The Chuckey-Doak girls went to Cosby on Tuesday and took a 65-52 loss.
The Lady Eagles came out of the gate hot and took a 24-13 lead after one quarter of action. Ariel Ottinger went inside to score nine points and Alexis McGaha hit two three-pointers on her way to eight points in the period.
The Lady Knights played even with Cosby the rest of the way, but they could not dig out of the early hole.
Kennedy Brown led the Lady Knights with 11 points, while Faith Yokley had nine points and Hayleigh Hensley put in eight.
Shylee Shelton led the Lady Eagles with 31 points. Ottinger and McGaha both finished with nine points.
