BASEBALL

Greeneville 2, Bearden 1

The Greeneville baseball team picked up a hard-fought, 2-1 win over Bearden on Thursday.

The Devils got a strong effort on the mound from Will Harmon who in six innings struck out seven, walked four and allowed three hits.

Parker Shipley came on in the seventh inning to earn the save and struck out the side.

After giving up one run in the first inning, the Devils did all of their damage in the top of the second inning. Kobe Mundy reached on an error and moved up when Eli House was hit by a pitch before a walk loaded the bases.

Crobin Cannon sent a single straight up the middle to score Greeneville's first run. Pinch runner Jayden Deeeble then stole home to give the Devils a 2-1 lead.

On the day Greeneville earned four hits with Cannon, Maddox Bishop, Carson Quillen and Colton Richards all earning one.

Chuckey-Doak 7, Happy Valley 1

The Chuckey-Doak baseball team picked up a 7-1 win on Thursday over Happy Valley.

The Black Knights earned nine hits in the win. Dillon Shelton was 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Lynkin Cutshaw was also 2-for-5. Christian Derry had a home run and Cadin Tullock had a double. Jake Hinkle had two RBIs for Chuckey-Doak.

Derry earned the win on the mound in a complete-game effort. He struck out 11, walked four and gave up only one hit.

SOFTBALL

Greeneville 3, David Crockett 2

The Greeneville softball team picked up its first win of the year, defeating David Crockett 3-2.

Pitcher Leah Phillips and the Lady Devils defense held David Crockett to just three hits while Phillips struck out two and walked one.

At the plate Brynlee Jones was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Madison Carpenter was 2-for-3 and Stoan Rader had a triple. Kyla Jobe and Phillips each had singles.

Science Hill 8, Greeneville 2

The Greeneville softball team fell to Science Hill 8-2 on earlier on Thursday at the East Tennessee Classic.

The Lady Devils earned five hits in the loss. Lydia Darnell had a double and drove in both runs. Jobe, Carpenter, Jones and Rader all had singles.

In the circle Phillips had a strikeout, two walks and gave up 10 hits.
