BASEBALL

West Greene 15, Hancock County 4

The West Greene baseball team opened the season with a 15-4 win over Hancock County on Monday.

As a team the Buffaloes pounded out 11 hits led by Judson Higgins, Braden McCamey and Austin Wampler who each had two hits.

Wampler was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Higgins was 2-for-2 with an RBI, three runs scored and two steals, and McCamey went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Jhonen Bath had a double, Ethan Carpenter had two steals, Jaden Gregg had two RBIs, and Maddox Garber had two RBIs.

On the mound Mason McCamey earned the win in four innings of work. He struck out six, walked two and gave up three hits.

Conner Campbell threw the final inning. He gave up no hits with one strikeout and one walk.

SOFTBALL

Morristown West 12, Greeneville 2

The Greeneville softball team dropped its season opener on Monday to Morristown West, 12-2.

The Lady Devils earned four hits with Kyla Jobe, Madison Carpenter, Lauren Million and Leah Phillips each earning one. Jobe had a solo home run for the Lady Devils and scored two runs.

On the rubber Phillips threw 5 2/3 innings with three strikeouts, three walks and 10 hits allowed.
