Local Soccer Teams Announce Postseason Awards

District 1 soccer teams have released their postseason awards and a few local athletes earned top honors.

Chuckey-Doak teammates Kylie Malone and Niome Merrille were named the District 1-A Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively.

Malone led the Lady Black Knights with 12 goals and eight assists. Merrill led a Chuckey-Doak back line that earned 12 shutouts and only allowed 11 goals all year.

Chuckey-Doak coach Anna Ricker was named the District 1-A Coach of the Year.

Takira Bowers of West Greene was the District 1-A Defensive Rookie of the Year.

In District 1-AA Greeneville's Annemarie Konieczny was named the Offensive Player of the Year.

Greeneville's Anna Shaw, Tanna Bookhamer, Allie Renner and Molly Hartman earned first-team All-District 1-AA honors. Kylee DeWald, Kiley Scott, Kendyl Foshie and Abi Kate Moore earned second team honors.

For Chuckey-Doak Malone, Merrill, Bailea Gilland, Tavyn Southerland, and Aliah Campbell earned first-team All-District 1-A honors. Sarah Wright and Liliana Jimenez earned second-team honors.

For West Greene Bowers, Abby Hoxie and Emilie Cinnamon earned first-team All-District 1-A honors. Lilly Gilbert and Brooke Booth were named to the second team.

University High's Carmen Ellis was named the District 1-A Player of the Year. Dalen Kittrell was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Tennessee High's Bridget Flaherty was the District 1-AA Defensive Player of the Year.
